Career Preparedness will take steps to involve students in the process of thinking about and searching for Career Opportunities which they will have in the future, dealing with either or both College bound,or Vocational Paths. Incite into how a computer works, and what makes it operate is also an essential of this class.

Students shall be introduced to Different kinds of Skill Applications dealing with computers.


Technology Skill Applications.

  1. Introductions to Computer Hardware.

  2. Introductions to Software

  3. Different kinds of office Suits.

  4. Functions of various Operating Systems

  5. Cloud computing

  6. Differences between System software and Application Software

  7. Diagnose Problems involving both computer hardware and software

  8.  Advanced Network Systems

  9.  Local Area Networks and how they work

  10.  Wide Area Networks, how they are tied together with Local networks.

  11.  Advanced Technology Skill including:

  12. Compressing files

  13. Converting a file from one type of file to another format.


Emerging Technologies and Forecast Innovations

  1.  Use of Emerging Technology Resources Including Social networking, and other Electronic Communications, using such programs as Edmodo and Google Classroom to accomplish this.

Minimizing Exposure to Identity theft, Fraudulent Schemes, Unethical Sales Practices, and Exorbitant Service Fees


Online Safety Precautions

Digital Citizenship.

  1.  Consequences of Illegal and Unethical use of Technology Systems and Digital Content

  2.  Copy Right Laws and Policies

  3.  Creating and Maintaining a Positive Digital Footprint

  4.  Critique Internet Digital information

  5.  Sources of Digital Content Using a Style Manual


Introduction into the Job Process.

  1. Conduct Interest and Aptitude surveys using Kuder Software

  2.  Explore different careers, their location, and expected salaries for them

  3.  Construct Cover Letter

  4.  Construct Resume

  5.  Complete an actual job application.

  6.  Construct Four-Year Education Plan.

  7.  Explore Advanced features of Word Processing including Correspondence Documents

  8. Use Advanced feature of Multimedia Software to create and Make Presentations

  9. Use features of spreadsheets to accomplish Mathematical Calculations and make decisions from the spread sheet results.

Students will work with the Cullman County Career Center though jobfairs to explore both Vocational and College Preparation in CurriculumAreas such as: Auto Collision Repair, Welding, Cosmetology, DraftingCulinary Arts, Electrical Technology, Building Construction, PrecisionMachining, Health Science, Horticulture, HVACR, Auto Service Repair,JROTC, and Engineering Academy.
